Meet our Pastor: Bruce Thweatt
ECC Mission Statement: What We Believe
Bruce is a missionary kid, raised in Taipei, Taiwan for 9 of his 12 school years before returning to the USA for college. He has worked as a teacher and coach, loaded trucks and sold coffee before entering fulltime ministry in 1990. Other ministry positions included leading worship, working with young families and college students, and helping start a new congregation. He loves to play his guitars (know any oldies?), tennis and basketball...and he still can't bring himself to let a book go from his library!
Bruce's education includes:
B.S. History, minors in Music, Education and English, Middle Tennessee State University, 1979.
M.A. West Georgia College, European History, minor Asian History, 1982.
David Lipscomb University, Master of Divinity Degree, 2003.
At Enumclaw Community Church our goal is to simply be Christians, disciples (followers)
of Jesus. Our fellowship is based on our relationship with God through Christ, rather
than on shared experiences, opinions or traditions. At the center of our fellowship is
the bond of faith built on the Lordship of Jesus and the teachings of His apostles found
in the Holy Bible, the Word of God.
We believe that:
GOD the Father is the eternal, all powerful, always loving, always present, creator of the universe who pursues a loving and personal relationship with us.
JESUS is the Son of God, God in human form, who lived a sinless life. He was crucified, buried, rose from the dead and will come again.
The HOLY SPIRIT is God's presence living in us. He is promised to every believer to guide, convict, encourage and comfort. He gives us gifts that benefit and build up the Church.
The BIBLE is the written word of God recorded by men under God's divine direction. It is truth and provides a practical guide for life.
SALVATION is God's plan to rescue us. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). When Jesus died on the cross, He died for our sin so nothing can separate us from God. When we accept God's plan and trust Him our relationship is restored. We demonstrate trust through repentance, confession, baptism and a changed life.
CHURCH is God's people gathering together to worship God, to encourage and support one another, and to stimulate one another to love and good deeds.
OUR MISSION: To bring people to Jesus, to help believers grow up in their faith and to do good to everyone in the name of Jesus
